Product
description:
If you have a urinary tract infection or any other type of bacterial
condition, chances are your doctor has prescribed Ciprofloxacin to you.
Ciprofloxacin is a powerful antibiotic that inhibits the reproduction
and repair of DNA in bacterial cells. As a result, viruses that cause
urinary tract infection, prostatitus, and other illnesses can no longer
multiply and eventually die.
How to
use this product: Ciprofloxacin tablets come in three strengths: 250
mg, 500 mg, and 1000 mg tablets. The normal prescribed dose is one
tablet twice daily. For best results, doses should be administered at
the same time each day: once in the morning and once in the evening.
NOTE: Continue taking Ciprofoxacin even if you start to feel better. If
you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time
for you to take your next scheduled dose skip it and continue with the
next one.
Side
effects: Ciprofloxacin is well tolerated by most patients. In
clinical studies the most common side effects reported with Ciprofoxacin
were nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, drowsiness, insomnia, ringing in the
ears, and/or increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight. If you
experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking
Ciprofloxacin and seek medical attention immediately: allergic reaction,
seizures, confusion or hallucinations, liver damage (yellowing of the
skin or eyes, nausea, abdominal pain, unusual bleeding or bruising,
severe fatigue), muscle or joint pain, skin rash, chest pain/discomfort,
shortness of breath, and/or swelling of the legs or feet.
Precautions: Before you begin taking Ciprofloxacin, tell your doctor
if you have or ever had kidney disease, seizures, or if you're pregnant
or nursing. Also, let your doctor know about any medications you are
taking including any over-the-counter products. NOTE: DO NOT use
Ciprofloxacin with any antacids, zinc, iron, or calcium supplements.
These products have a tendency to decrease the effectiveness of
Ciprofloxacin by up to 90%.
If you go
out in the sun, make sure you're well protected. Ciprofloxacin may
increase your sensitivity to sunlight. Ciprofloxacin also has been known
to cause dizziness or drowsiness in some patients. Therefore, if you
experience any of these symptoms, avoid potentially hazardous activities
like driving until you're absolutely certain your judgment has not been
impaired.
Drug
interactions: DO NOT take Cipro with dairy products or
calcium-fortified juices. Also limit your consumption of caffeine during
treatment. Cipro may increase the effects of caffeine. Supplements and
